Sounds like RINs have dropped by about 30% since the EPA's announcement came out, though that still leaves them way above where they were early in the year.

I've updated the post to reflect the announcement, but reading the details provides little reassurance that the EPA grasps the full scope of the problems with the RFS or sees them as more than a temporary setback in narrow technical terms. It also leaves a fair amount of uncertainty about exactly when and how they would adjust the 2014 targets, and at whose expense. With a pattern for catching up after the fact, and merely on a year-by-year basis, this is all well short of a real solution to the problem.

My initial take is that they've effectively punted the ball to Congress--perhaps in hopes Congress will come up short--rather than carrying it themselves. It'll be interesting to see where RIN prices end up after the news settles in. RIN prices have duly crashed.

http://www.agri-pulse.com/EPA-finalizes-RFS-percentage-standards-in-four-categories-08062013.aspjtfhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10279035600714686610noreply@blogger.com
